| Customer Reviews: Ok, value for the price September 16, 2005 inPHILm (Pasadena, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Porter Cable DA250 is a hardy nailer, and an item I've been wanting for a while. I've purchased other Porter Cable reconditioned tools, and have had mixed results, all through Amazon. However I felt confident in this purchase because Amazon has made good on problems in the past.
As received one couldn't tell the nailer was even ever used, the finish on all hard and soft parts were perfect. No dust in the box or in the nail magazine. The case looks new too, the oil looks a little low, compared to oil bottles from new nail gun kits, looking closer it seems the tip had been pierced, and melted to reseal it for shipping (my theory).
The instructions were included and stowed away as new. One should note that PC/ Amazon doesn't provide any nails with this unit, so testing the unit requires a purchase of some nails or having access to some.
These are reconditioned units, so I guess "your mileage may vary", for the price I'm glad I made the purchase.

The tool itself works fine so far. But opening the case was one minor disappointment after another. Far from looking like a new package inside, I did not find a box of nails to try with it. The case was stained inside (minor cosmetic), soft rubber parts of the tool showed obvious wear - I would have expected those to be replaced to appear and feel new. Black wear dust on the nail loader (if you didn't clean it, why should I think you checked/reconditioned it?). Big ugly white sticker of inspected by, but with that much space, you could have printed a checklist of what was done. Half full (not half empty) bottle of gun oil - didn't leak as others have found - kudos for that. Obviuosly not new manual stuffed into the pocket with wait, that rattling sound - two sticks of nails that appeared to be left over from the previous owner, since I only found them when I kept searching for the source of the rattle. Not wrapped, just loose to collect any dust that was in the case. And the two allen keys that come in the new kit - just empty slots in the case. I will think a bit more before buying a recon PC - not full of faith in the life expectancy of the tool based on what i received. See my milwaukee review on what a recon tool should look like.
