great tool for the right jobs. February 12, 2010 Dino 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own the complete micro 10.8 volt line they are great tools for light duty jobs that they were design for. The small size and ergonomics makes it great for light duty work in electrical, HVAC, Cabinetry trades and are grate for home use as well. But they should not be compared against the power and torque that your normal 12v, 14v and 18v cordless power tools will provide.
Outstandidng deal February 8, 2010 J. Moriki (Maui, HI) Since converting from my De Walt 12 volt drills to the Hitachi 10.8 Lithium I've been looking to add to my 10.8 inventory. This set for under $200 delivered was an excellent buy. The Hitachi tools offer better balance and a more compact size.
Hitachi's reciprocating saw September 30, 2009 Dennis 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I did my homework online before buying the Hitachi KC10DBL 10.8V Li-Ion reciprocating saw (SawzAll) and my web search found, that most other cordless saw owner's clamed that other manufactures saws lacked battery power and failed to meet the buyer's needs. THE HITACHI CORDLESS RECIPROCATING SAW WORKED PERFECTLY. I needed a cordless saw to trim a 20-foot tall palm tree. The branches are typically 8-inch wide with Palm Needles 18-inches long; so safe and accurate cuts are mandatory. Although not planned, I dropped the saw from 20-ft and after re-installing the battery that had popped out I discovered the saw was undamaged. For the past 14 yrs I've trimmed this tree by hand and because of the height of the tree I needed something light enough to hold above my head for hours without wearing my arm out. AGAIN, THE HITACHI CORDLESS RECIPROCATING SAW WORKED PERFECTLY. I bought the combo kit so that I'd have two (2) batteries and although I didn't time how long each battery lasted I spent the whole day trimming and moving palm branches to the garbage. As one battery wore out the other would be charged and ready for use. I'd say the batteries last about 20-minutes and would take enough of a charge to keep working in about 2-hours, just about the time it took for me to trim and clear the 10-ft trimmed palms branches away from the base of the tree. Skill makes a reciprocating saw blade marketed as pruning blade and the quick connect design of the Hitachi saw handled these blades like a champ. I've used the saw to trim other harder wood trees and found the product to be EXCELLENT. As stated I bought the combo kit and have used the drill for minor projects around the house and found that it has plenty of torque. It comes fitted as a driver and doesn't have a Drill chuck; kind of a minus. I highly recommend this product.
Light Duty tools September 29, 2009 john- NJ (new jersey United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I actually purchased this kit for the cordless sawsall since I need to get into tight spaces that I come across in my jobs. I liked the slim design. overall power and battery life in both the drill and saw were disappointing. the saw cuts out when put under continuous but not extreme use, wait a few seconds and you can start cutting again until it cuts out again. On a fresh recharge the saw cuts pretty good but does not last too long, the battery just does not keep up...useless. The clutch on the drill moves out of position while drilling hard woods. flash light is good, battery charge is lessthan acceptable. This kit is for the weekend home user, light duty work. I have a smaller cordless set just for light work but my 10.8 Makitas are more tool than some of the bigger units and much more than these Hitachi's. Do not recommend this kit for the pro user.
